Dr. William 'Bill' Kelley, DPT, ATC, CSCS

Co-Owner and Director of PT

Dr. Bill Kelley received his Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Maine in 2012. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) from the University of Miami in 2016 where he graduated with honors. Dr.Kelley also holds Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credentials since 2012 and became Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) certified and a Blood Flow Restriction Certified Clinician in 2017. In 2018 Dr. Kelley also took the initial steps to certification in the Postural Restoration Institute.

Dr. Kelley has contributed greatly as a researcher and lecturer. He has lectured at the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine national conference, the American Physical Therapy Association National conference as well as locally to various medical practices and area gyms such as Equinox. Dr. Kelley has been featured in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy for his article on nutritional rehabilitation in Men’s Journal and in the Huffington Post amongst other publications.

Prior to opening Aries Physical Therapy, Dr. Kelley was a clinic director with a high end, private practice in Miami, managing and treating at two of the 6 clinics in the practice. Dr. Kelley specializes in treatment of sports injuries, both surgical and non-surgical; biomechanical dysfunctions, neurological disorders, and neck and back pain; he has treated multiple collegiate, professional and recreational athletes.

Dr. Kelley utilizes his wide array of corrective exercises as well as comprehensive manual techniques to correct movement faults and biomechanical abnormalities to return his patients to a high activity level safely and quickly. He is also proficient in the use of soft-tissue techniques such as cupping, Graston, k-tape, and joint mobilizations. Dr. Kelley is highly commended for his ability to educate his patient and then incorporate an all-encompassing treatment that they understand and value to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. His dedication to his own fitness, health and athletic ability drives him to inspire and motivate his patients while providing them with the most innovative and scientifically backed treatment strategies available.

Dr. Lisa Ray, DPT

Lisa Fernandez graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology in 1995 from Central Michigan University where she received a full academic scholarship through the Centralis Scholar Honors program. She received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 1998 from Central Michigan University where she graduated with Honors. After many years of clinical experience, Lisa completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree through Florida Gulf Coast University with a 4.0 GPA. Lisa has over 20 years of experience in fitness, health, and rehabilitation. Her clinical experience includes orthopedic, post-surgical, neurological, and vestibular rehabilitation and she has worked with patients of all ages and abilities, from sports therapy to geriatric rehabilitation.

As an APTA certified clinical instructor, Lisa has mentored many students from physical therapy schools around the country. She has owned and operated a boutique Fitness studio, and worked as a fitness instructor at the White House Athletic Center in Washington, D.C. She has also worked as a spokesperson for major fitness and nutrition companies and has been featured in publications such as Muscle & Fitness, Fitness Rx, and Oxygen magazines. In her clinical practice, Lisa provides high quality care that utilizes manual therapy and therapeutic exercise along with patient education and improving biomechanics and posture in order to facilitate her patients’ return to function. Lisa is a huge sports fan and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, being outdoors, and attending concerts.

Dr. Christopher Chambers, DPT

Dr. Austin Merrell, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Austin Merrell is a native of Boca Raton who received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Health Sciences from the University of Central Florida prior to obtaining his clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy at Florida International University. He may be a familiar face to some as he completed one of his four clinical internships with Aries in 2020 at the Ft. Lauderdale location. His background lies primarily in managing orthopedic conditions/sports Injuries, priding himself on being able to provide evidence-based interventions to any population with sound clinical reasoning. His treatment approach centers around enhancing human performance through optimizing movement, whether it's to complete daily tasks or keep up with the demands of sport.

While at FIU, he had the chance to volunteer as support personnel for the Wodapalooza Fitness Festival in both 2018 and 2019, treating novice and elite CrossFit athletes pre and post competition. As an athlete himself, who played ice hockey for 20+ years, now turned weekend golfer, he understands both the physical and mental aspects of rehabilitation from injury and/or surgery. When he isn't treating patients he enjoys spending time at the beach or traveling to national parks to get his steps in.

Dr. Merrell is always eager to learn and grow in order to serve his patients towards maximum potential. He is currently continuing education and plans to become TPI certified in the near future.

Dr. Christopher Chambers, DPT

Dr. Alec Spano, PT, DPT, CSCS, PN1

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Alec Spano received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2017. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) from The University of Florida in 2020. After receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Spano pursued his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS), a certification in nutrition from Precision Nutrition (Pn1), and certification from Active Life Rx for rehabbing the functional fitness athlete.

Dr. Spano then started working in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was promoted early to Center Manager of a PT clinic in the area less than a year out of school. He has also coached CrossFit in Gainesville, high school baseball for Oak Hall High School, and worked with various NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes as an intern in Plantation, Florida.

Dr. Spano’s passion for physical performance and wellness began and continues with his athletic endeavors. He was a high school baseball player for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, during which he had an award named after him- “The Alec Spano Hustle Award,” and later went on to become the vice president for the University of Florida’s Club Baseball team. During his time in college, he discovered CrossFit and continues to be a member of the community. He has competed in the CrossFit Games Open and various competitions, in which he placed in the top 96th percentile, and had the opportunity to compete in Quarterfinals and the Occupational Games in 2021. He continues to train in various functional fitness methodologies pursuing lifelong fitness and health.

Dr. Spano prides himself on patient care and the use of evidence-based treatments, utilizing exercise techniques from various domains to improve the function of the athlete or general population looking to return to daily pain-free activities. His treatments also include joint mobilizations, cupping, Graston, neuromuscular re-education, blood flow restriction therapy, and soft tissue mobilization. He values hard work and will stop at nothing to improve your function and pain.

Dr. Christopher Chambers comes from a family of medical health professionals. With both parents as ER nurses at Mass General Hospital, at the age of 16 he began working in healthcare as a clinical coordinator for the Emergency Room, and then a clinical educator in basic life support (BLS). He received his Bachelor’s in Health Sciences from the University of Hartford in 2017 and then went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2021 also from the University of Hartford. He completed clinical rotations in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings, his favorite being Hartford Bone and Joint Institute in Hartford, CT where he worked with high level high school and collegiate level athletes – focusing on sport specific training, functional training and preventative rehabilitation.

While receiving his doctorate, he was part of a research team that evaluated explosive movements and jumping mechanics in D1 volleyball athletes. He trained under a TPI certified physical therapist with an extensive background treating a variety of golf-related injuries.

Dr. Chambers approach creates an individualized rehabilitation program that is specific to his patient and backed by the most up to date evidence-based research in manual therapy (ie. soft tissue mobilization, trigger point release), therapeutic exercises, and neuromuscular re-education.

He grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts but after graduation was ready for year-long sun, palm trees and the ocean. When he is not working, he enjoys playing just about any sport that is outside – but his ultimate favorite sport to both watch and play is basketball. He loves to travel, and experience different cultures, foods and ways of life. He is an avid gym go-er and nutrition enthusiast but will never say no to late night ice cream.

A native Floridian, Dr. Daniel Light received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science: Human Performance, from the University of Central Florida. While obtaining his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Light worked as a personal trainer certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, helping numerous individuals of various populations achieve their personal health and fitness goals. After college, Dr. Light worked as an assistant therapist for a private practice in Hollywood, FL treating individuals with a variety of neurological pathologies. Seeing the positive impact that movement and manual therapy could have on mental and physical well-being, Dr. Light pursued his degree in physical therapy and graduated with honors from the University of Miami Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Dr. Light has an extensive knowledge of therapeutic exercise and nutrition. He is a strong believer in practicing what you preach and has been competitively bodybuilding for the past 8 years through the National Physique Committee. He is passionate about bodybuilding and it is his personal goal to compete in the International Federation of Bodybuilding’s professional circuit. Dr. Light has also completed multiple collegiate level courses in nutrition and psychology. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, it is Dr. Light’s mission to heal and prevent injury using a multifactorial approach that focuses on the connection between mind, body, and soul. Dr. Light stresses the importance of patient education and takes pride in helping individuals take responsibility for their health and well-being. He is a big promoter of living an active lifestyle and using movement as a holistic form of medicine.

Andrew Geil joined Aries in 2020. He received his Bachelors of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers FL in 2019. Andrew specializes in injury prevention, management, rehabilitation, evaluation and diagnosis of orthopedic injuries. Working with professional sports at the collegiate and professional level, he has a diverse practice with a multitude of skills both on and off the field.

Andrew is skilled in Active Release Techniques (ART), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Mulligan’s Concept of Joint Mobilization, K-Taping, and Cupping aiding in recovery and treating debilitating injuries. Andrew is proficient in utilizing corrective based exercise, biomechanical analysis, and comprehensive manual techniques while educating patients on the importance of movements inspiring them to achieve their therapeutic goals.

Upon relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Andrew had the opportunity to work directly with world-class orthopedic surgeons at Cleveland Clinic, Weston FL. Andrew assisted in the surgical interventions of Rotator Cuff Repairs, ACL/PCL Reconstruction, Total Hip/Knee Replacement, Total Shoulder/Reverse Shoulder Replacement, and many more specialized surgeries. Andrew learned the different techniques surgeons use and has applied that education to his practice when performing therapeutic exercises on post-surgical treatment.

Andrew also holds a second-degree black belt in Okinawan Goju-Ryu, a traditional form of karate. Andrew has dedicated the past 16 years to studying martial arts becoming a certified instructor teaching self-defense and MMA style fighting. Andrew uses his karate skills to help treat neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease improving function and coordination in people affected by neurological disease.

Andrew is continuing his education by pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) along with a Ph.D. in Biomechanics. He is dedicated to improving the lives of Aries' patients through the power of movement utilizing current evidence-based practices and treatment strategies based on cutting edge scientific research.

Katherine Wall joined Aries in 2021. Born and raised in Florida. She received her Bachelors of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers FL in 2017. Kat specializes in injury prevention, management, rehabilitation, evaluation and diagnosis of orthopedic injuries.

She has extensive experience working with different populations, ranging from the general population to sports athletes. Before joining the Aries family, she worked at 2 high schools in Florida with athletics, Broward Health in the Wellness center and Cardiac/Pulmonary outpatient rehab, and at Holy Cross Hospital working with Sports Medicine doctors. She is very knowledgeable with the entire process of orthopedic injuries on and off the field.

She has skills in personal training, sports nutrition, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Kinesiology taping, and cupping aiding in recovery and treating debilitating injuries.

She is continuing her education by pursuing multiple certifications and credentials in fitness and nutrition.

Having been an athlete growing up and going through the injury process herself, Kat knows the importance of treating your body with health and wellness to function at optimal levels, enabling her to better understand and treat her patients.
