Dr. William "Bill" Kelley, DPT, ATC, CSCS
Co-Owner and Director of PT
Dr. Bill Kelley received his Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Maine in 2012. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) from the University of Miami in 2016 where he graduated with honors. Dr. Kelley also holds Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credentials since 2012 and became Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) certified and a Blood Flow Restriction Certified Clinician in 2017. In 2018 Dr. Kelley also took the initial steps to certification in the Postural Restoration Institute.
Dr. Kelley has contributed greatly as a researcher and lecturer. He has lectured at the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine national conference, the American Physical Therapy Association National conference as well as locally to various medical practices and area gyms such as Equinox. Dr. Kelley has been featured in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy for his article on nutritional rehabilitation in Men’s Journal and in the Huffington Post amongst other publications.
Prior to opening Aries Physical Therapy, Dr. Kelley was a clinic director with a high end, private practice in Miami, managing and treating at two of the 6 clinics in the practice. Dr. Kelley specializes in treatment of sports injuries, both surgical and non-surgical; biomechanical dysfunctions, neurological disorders, and neck and back pain; he has treated multiple collegiate, professional and recreational athletes.
Dr. Kelley utilizes his wide array of corrective exercises as well as comprehensive manual techniques to correct movement faults and biomechanical abnormalities to return his patients to a high activity level safely and quickly. He is also proficient in the use of soft-tissue techniques such as cupping, Graston, k-tape, and joint mobilizations. Dr. Kelley is highly commended for his ability to educate his patient and then incorporate an all-encompassing treatment that they understand and value to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. His dedication to his own fitness, health and athletic ability drives him to inspire and motivate his patients while providing them with the most innovative and scientifically backed treatment strategies available.
Dr. Peter Modera, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Peter Modera received his Bachelor of the Arts in Biology from Wesleyan University in 2011, after which he worked as a neuropathology research assistant in San Francisco and Izmir, Turkey. Dr. Modera went on to complete a Neurotrauma Fellowship through the Brain Trauma Foundation in New York City, where his main focus was developing new technology to quantify and identify concussions, specifically in athletes. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) from The University of Miami in 2019 where he graduated with honors. After receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Modera completed a Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency at the University of Miami, where he graduated in 2020 and is in the process of becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS).
Dr. Modera also has an extensive background in research in multiple disciplines and has published and presented at venues that include The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, The National Neurotrauma Society’s Symposium, The Military Health System Research Symposium, Neurosurgery Magazine and multiple appearances at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting.
Dr. Modera’s drive for physical performance and wellness began in athletics. He was an All-American lacrosse player for the state of California and went on to play both collegiate football and lacrosse. He currently trains and competes in beach volleyball, participating in AAA tournaments around the state.
Dr. Modera prides himself on patient care and use of evidence-based treatments, utilizing a multitude of intervention techniques that include: joint mobilization, personalized and targeted therapeutic exercises, cupping, Graston, neuromuscular re-education, blood flow restriction therapy, and soft tissue mobilization. His priority is always individualized patient care at the highest level with the most up to date clinical approaches.
Dr. Lauren Cooper, PT, DPT, MTC, CEAS
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Lauren Cooper, PT is the Clinical Director at Aries Physical Therapy in Boca where she uses her advanced clinical skills in Orthopedic and Manual therapy to create individualized treatments and specialized care for each patient.
Dr. Cooper received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2012 from Western Washington University. She moved to Florida and graduated from the University of St. Augustine in 2016 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Following graduation, she began to specialize in Orthopedic and Manual therapy receiving her Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine and became a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist in 2017. Currently, she is continuing her education and is expected to graduate Summer 2021 with her Fellowship in Orthopedic and Manual therapy through the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT). She is also in the process of becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS).
Dr. Cooper grew up hiking and skiing in the Cascade Mountains. She loves traveling and has picked up paddle boarding, golf and running since moving to the Sunshine State. Her love of the outdoors and living a healthy active lifestyle brought her into the healthcare field. Dr. Cooper builds each individualized treatment session with a focus on research informed practice and utilizes patient education, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and neuromuscular re-education. She provides high quality patient care that decreases injury duration for quicker return to work, activity or sport.
Dr. Jessica Day, PT, DPT, CSCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Jessica Day received her Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in 2014 – earning both a major in Exercise Science and Wellness and a minor in Nutrition. Following graduation, Dr. Day spent 2 years learning about the various avenues of healthcare and physical therapy. Dr. Day worked both as a physical therapy technician and administrative assist at Fischer Institute in Phoenix. Dr. Day had the opportunity to work with athletes at all levels from middle school to professional and learned the balance of early sports rehabilitation and return to play safely. Dr. Day worked closely with athletes from the following organizations: Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Royals, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, San Francisco Giants and many more!
To continue her passion in physical therapy and sports interests, Dr. Day attended University of Miami and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in May of 2020. Her time in Miami was well spent volunteering regularly at Shake A Leg, attending conferences and guest lectures, and working as a Graduate Assistant for both the Prosthetics and Orthotics course and Integrated/Adaptive Sports elective. Jessica loves to teach and continued as a Teaching Assistant for the Musculoskeletal Examination course Summer 2020. The University of Miami is when her passion for adaptive sports began and she is continuing to pursue more volunteer and clinical experiences in the area. Dr. Day completed a clinical rotation at the VA in Las Vegas - where she volunteered weekly at the amputee agility class and PAVE (Preventing Amputation for Veterans Everywhere) clinic - working with veterans with limb loss across the spectrum from recent to experienced prosthetic ambulators.
Dr. Day plans to continue working with adaptive athletes and sports for the rest of her career and hopes to one day be invited to work at the International Paralympic Games. In her free time, Dr. Day enjoys staying active by biking down Key Biscayne, running in the streets of Miami, being on the water, and hiking.
Certified Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapy Technician
Andrew Geil joined Aries in 2020. He received his Bachelors of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers FL in 2019. Andrew specializes in injury prevention, management, rehabilitation, evaluation and diagnosis of orthopedic injuries. Working with professional sports at the collegiate and professional level, he has a diverse practice with a multitude of skills both on and off the field.
Andrew is skilled in Active Release Techniques (ART), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Mulligan’s Concept of Joint Mobilization, K-Taping, and Cupping aiding in recovery and treating debilitating injuries. Andrew is proficient in utilizing corrective based exercise, biomechanical analysis, and comprehensive manual techniques while educating patients on the importance of movements inspiring them to achieve their therapeutic goals.
Upon relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Andrew had the opportunity to work directly with world-class orthopedic surgeons at Cleveland Clinic, Weston FL. Andrew assisted in the surgical interventions of Rotator Cuff Repairs, ACL/PCL Reconstruction, Total Hip/Knee Replacement, Total Shoulder/Reverse Shoulder Replacement, and many more specialized surgeries. Andrew learned the different techniques surgeons use and has applied that education to his practice when performing therapeutic exercises on post-surgical treatment.
Andrew also holds a second-degree black belt in Okinawan Goju-Ryu, a traditional form of karate. Andrew has dedicated the past 16 years to studying martial arts becoming a certified instructor teaching self-defense and MMA style fighting. Andrew uses his karate skills to help treat neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease improving function and coordination in people affected by neurological disease.
Andrew is continuing his education by pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) along with a Ph.D. in Biomechanics. He is dedicated to improving the lives of Aries' patients through the power of movement utilizing current evidence-based practices and treatment strategies based on cutting edge scientific research.
Certified Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapy Technician
Serena Sauerwald joined Aries in 2021. She received her Bachelors of Athletic Training from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL in December of 2020.
Serena specializes in prevention, diagnosing and treatment of injuries, as well as rehabilitation of acute and chronic pathologies. She has extensive experience working with different populations, ranging from the general population to sports athletes at the collegiate, professional, and Olympic level.
Although she comes from a military family, Serena is originally from Rochester, NY. She relocated to South Florida where she continued her soccer career at Barry University. She has a magnitude of skills both on and off the field. Being an athlete herself, Serena knows the importance of needing to keep her body healthy to perform at the optimal level, enabling her to understand and better treat her patients.
